India At Commonwealth Games,2018-Highlights




India competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia from 4 to 15 April 2018.India secured third place in medal tally with 66 medals.This is India's third best CWG after Delhi CWG and Manchester CWG where they got 101 & 69 medals respectively.218 players were participated in 15 different games.P.V.Sindhu was the Flag barrier.


Day 1:


Gold-1 Silver -1 Bronze -0


India bagged 2 medals.Weightlifter Gururaja opens India's medal tally Weightlifter Gururaja Poojary gets silver medal for India in the 56kg event.World Champion Mirabai Chanu delivered a  professional performance, eclipsing Games and Commonwealth records in the 48kg class competition and get India's 1st gold medal



Day 2 :


Gold-1 Silver -0 Bronze -1


Indian weightlifters impressed again as Sanjita Chanu won gold in Women's 53 kg and Deepak Lather won bronze in the Men's 69 kg on the second day of the 2018 .


Day 3 :


Gold-2 Silver -0 Bronze -0


India won yet another weightlifting gold as Sathish Sivalingam finishes with a total of 317 kg in men's 77 kg category.In Weightlifting, Venkat Rahul Ragala won gold in men's 85kg cataegory. This was India's fourth gold medal at the Games.


Day 4 :


Gold-3 Silver -1 Bronze -2


Starting the day on a cheerful note Punam Yadav pulled off her personal best of 222kg (110kg+122kg) in the 69kg category to win the gold medal.Vikas lifted a total of 351kg (159kg+192kg) in the 94kg category to settle for a bronze.16-year old Manu Bhaker created a qualification record on her CWG debut and ended with the top position in the 10m air pistol event.Heena Sidhu won Silver medal in same event with Manu.India’s women’s table tennis team scripted history by clinching their first ever gold medal at the Commonwealth Games after defeating Singapore. Manika Batra, Madhurika Patkar and Mouma Das took India’s gold medal tally to 7.Ravi Kumar won bronze medal in 10m air rifle event.


Day 5 :


Gold-3 Silver -2 Bronze -2


Indian shooter Jitu Rai claimed the gold medal in men's 10m air pistol event, creating a new games record.Om Prakash Mitharval bagged a bronze in the same event.Mehuli Ghosh and Apurvi Chandela bagged silver and bronze respectively in 10m air rifle . TT mens' team matched the women team to seal a memorable gold with a win over Nigeria in the final.India's Pardeep Singh wins silver medal in men's 105kg event in weightlifting.India won gold in the Badminton Mixed Team finals by beating Malaysia.






Day 6:


Gold-1 Silver -0 Bronze -1



In the women's 25m pistol event,Heena Sidhu won gold.Para-powerlifter Sachin Chaudhary won a surprise bronze.



Day 7:


Gold-1 Silver -0 Bronze -2


Om Mitharval won bronze medal in the 50m pistol men’s finals.India’s top ranked double trap shooter Ankur Mittal also claimed bronze in the double trap men’s finals.Shreyasi Singh got the Gold medal in women's doubles trap.



Day 8:


Gold-2 Silver -3 Bronze -2



Sushil Kumar  claimed the Gold medal in the 74kg category in wrestling.Rahul Aware also claimed the yellow metal in 57kg category.Babita Kumari won silver medal in the 53kg category in wrestling.Kiran won a bronze medal in 76kg category.Tejaswini Sawant won silver in the women's 50m prone finals.Indians Seema Punia and Navjeet Dhillon won silver and bronze in the Discus final.



Day 9:


Gold-3 Silver -4 Bronze -4


Tejaswini Sawant grabbed the gold in the 50m rifle. Anjum Moudgil took the silver in the same event. Anish Bhanwala became the youngest shooter to win a gold in the 25m rapid fire pistol.Bajrang Punia got gold medal in the 65kg category of freestyle wrestling.Pooja Dhanda and Muasam Khatri settled for silver medals in the women's 57kg category and the men's 97kg final. Divya Kakran added another bronze from the 68 kg category bronze-medal bout.  India won three bronze in boxing. First, Naman Tanwar took the bronze . Later, Hussamuddin Mohammed took bronze after getting beaten in the 56kg semifinal. In the end, experienced boxer Manoj Kumar get a bronze in the 69kg category.Indian Women TT's doubles team won a silver



Day 10:


Gold-8 Silver -5 Bronze -4



A golden day for India in CWG 2018.Boxer MC Mary Kom win gold in the women's 48 kilogram category.Neeraj Chopra won the men's Javelin title for the first time.Vinesh Phogat won gold in the women's 50 kg wrestling competition.India's Dipika Pallikal and Saurav Ghosal claimed silver in squash.Boxer Vikas Krishan and Gaurav Solanki clinched gold medal in the men's 75kg category and 52kg category respectively.Satish Kumar lost the final of the 91kg category and returned with a silver.India's Harmeet Desai and Sanil Shankar Shetty bagged the bronze medal in TT.Manika Batra won first womens' gold medal in TT.Sumit Malik won gold medal in wrestling in 125kg category.Sanjeev Rajput won gold medal in Men's 50m rifle 3 positions category in shooting.Sharath Achanta and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran won Table tennis Men's doubles Silver medal.Amit panghal,Manish Kaushik won silver medal in 49 kg category and 60 kg category boxing respectively.Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy won bronze medal in women's doubles in badminton.Sakshi Mallik and Somveer Kadian won bronze medal in wrestling.



Day 11:

Gold-1 Silver -4 Bronze -2



Saina Nehwal won the gold medal in women's single in badminton by defeating P.V.Sindhu who is settled for a silver.Dipika Pallikal and Joshna Chinappa settled for the silver in women's doubles squash, after losing to New Zealand.K.Srikanth settled for a silver medal in men's single in badminton.Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty settled for a silver medal in men's double in badminton.Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Manika Batra won a bronze medal in TT.Sharath Achanta won a bronze medal in TT.
